OIT Communications

Purpose

The OIT Communications Office provides public relations, communication, and marketing services on behalf of OIT, which provides computer and communications services, products, and support to the University of Maryland community.

Mission

  • Establish and manage an overall OIT identity, including editorial and graphic guidelines.
  • Proactively and creatively disseminate information about OIT products and services to faculty, staff, students, partner organizations, stakeholders and the media.
  • Create and distribute OIT press releases, FYI notices, Web page headlines, news articles, OIT newsletters (ITforUM, and TechKnow), and other documents as requested.
  • Coordinate staffing and promotional items at targeted university activities including prospective student events and student, faculty, and staff orientations.
  • Develop and/or manage OIT Web site content and user feedback and contact mechanisms.
  • Develop a suite of promotional items to market OIT products and services to the University of Maryland community.
  • Serve as resident editors for OIT materials, such as reports, documents, and other campus communications.
  • Provide graphic design services for a variety of OIT communications, including posters, fliers, PowerPoint presentations, banners, signs, the wireless coverage map, organizational charts, etc.
