Overview
OIT Resourced Projects are developed according to an annual cycle of review, prioritization and resource allocation. Initiatives for the OIT 10 Year Plan that fit well with campus objectives lead to preliminary proposals, which in turn are evaluated against needs and available resources.
Each fall semester, the Vice President/Chief Information Officer in concert with OIT Senior Staff will define a set of broad objectives for the upcoming fiscal year in order to identify areas of opportunities for new initiatives and infrastructure maintenance priorities.
OIT will follow these Guidelines for planning future initiatives, developing project proposals and managing resources. The OIT Project Planning & Methodology includes the forms for this process, as well as additional guidelines and forms for managing unit projects that fall outside the scope of the annual funding process.
Following these Guidelines will yield the benefits of an improved common understanding of OIT goals and objectives as they pertain to the needs of the university and a common methodology that fosters better utilization of resources to meet those needs.
