Voice Service Requests

Each department on campus has a designated Department Telecommunications Representative (DTR) who serves as the primary contact with NTS and as a telecommunications resource for his or her department. DTRs have received training on the university telephone system, available services, and related procedures. To best meet the needs of each department, all requests for telecommunications moves, additions, changes, and maintenance must be sent to NTS through the DTR. To register to be a DTR, visit http://nts.umd.edu/access. All new DTRs will be contacted for consultation and training.

Requests may be submitted by the DTR to NTS electronically at http://nts-services.umd.edu/order-requests or by filling out this PDF form including the appropriate signatures and sending it via fax at 301.314.9090 or campus mail. A request may also be submitted by meeting with an NTS Customer Requirements Analyst. NTS will ensure that all technical details have been considered and issue an order. You will receive an e-mail and a copy of the order, including an Order Number and the estimated due date for the service. Please contact the OIT Help Desk at 301.405.1500 for assistance with filling out a work request, to find out the status of your order, or for other information.

Data Service Requests

NTS processes requests for Ethernet activation and changes and all billing for Ethernet service. All departments on campus have designated Department Data Representatives (DDRs) who serve as the primary contact with NTS. To register to be a DDR, visit http://nts.umd.edu/access. Contact the OIT Help Desk at 301.405.1500 if you have any questions concerning data service.

Cellular Phone Requests

Cingular and Sprint/Nextel provide discounts on business and personal cellular phones to the university community. To order phones for university business use, orders must be placed by designated Department Cellular Representatives (DCRs) who serve as the primary contact with the cellular vendors. To register to be a DCR, you must complete the DCR Form and have it approved by your department head or designee. Contact the OIT Help Desk at 301.405.1500 if you have any questions concerning cell phone ordering procedures.
