1. Please visit Intel PROSet Wireless Network Software to download the latest version of the Intel PROSet wireless software. This Web site provides a table that helps the user locate the correct software they should download for the network adapter installed in their computer. Once you have located the network adapter in the table, click on the link to the right to begin the download process.

   NOTE: Most systems are running Windows 2000/XP 32-Bit Operating System, but if you would like to make sure yours is, follow these three simple steps to make sure you are downloading the right version for your computer:

   1. Click Start, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties.
   2. In the System Properties window, click the General Tab if it's not chosen by default.
   3. Note the first line under Computer: On 64-bit systems, Itanium or Itanium 2 appears on this line. If you do not see this, your computer is running the 32-bit operating system.

   

2. Click on the Download link highlighted in green.

   

3. Click on the Intel PROSET Wireless WLAN Connection Software v. 10.5.0.3 link highlighted in green to begin the download process.

   

4. The File Download - Security Warning window opens. This file is 50MB in size so its best to download it to your computer. Click Save.

   

5. The Save As window opens prompting you for a place to save the file. You have the option to save the file wherever you would like. We find downloading the file on the Desktop makes it easier to locate once the download is complete. Once you have specified your location, click Save.

   

   Please be patient, the file is fairly large and may take several minutes to download.

   

6. Once the download is completed, locate the setup icon in the location you saved it. Double click the icon to begin the installation process.

   

7. You may be given this Security Warning, please disregard and click Run.

   

8. This window explains what will be installed if an older version of this software already exists on the computer. Click Next.

   

9. You must select I accept the terms in the license agreement in order to install this software. Click Next.

   

10. Unless you have a preference for where you would like the files saved, please accept the default location by clicking Next.

    

11. This window shows a status bar of the installation process. Once the install has been completed, the window may disappear. If it does not, click Finish.

    

12. The installation files are complete and the Intel ProSet/Wireless software window appears. Click the Install Software button.

    

13. You must accept the terms in the license agreement to install this software by placing a check in the box. Click Next to continue.

    

14. The setup type: Typical will be selected by default, click Next to continue.

    

15. Click OK to verify the installation of default components.

    

16. This window shows the status of the software installation process.

    

17. This window shows the installation is complete, press OK to continue.

    

18. The installation is now complete and you should notice a sonar icon located in the system tray. The icon shown in the screen shot has a red X because there were no access points in its vicinity. However, the sonar icon you see may be green, red, or yellow depending on the signal strength it is picking up.
