How Our Office Determines Which Software to Buy

OIT Software Licensing decides which software licenses to offer by gauging the interest of the faculty and staff. If you don't see a product listed on our pages that you would like to use, please call us at 301.405.2986 or e-mail us at software-licensing@umd.edu.

Usually we encourage individuals to inquire about the costs from manufacturers unless we believe there will be a large scale usage of the software product. Manufacturers usually offer savings on a volume purchases and sometimes site licenses. Any products which you don't see on our page are probably not available through our office.

Products that don't appear on our web pages may be sold at the University Book Center. Most products that we sell are not in shrinkwrap packaging and are less expensive than the University Book Center.
