Opening day Keynote address by Doug Van Houweling, President and CEO of the University Corporation for Advanced Internet Development (UCAID). UCAID is a consortium of United States research universitys, in collaboration with private and public sector partners, currently engaged in the Internet2 and Abilene projects to advanced networking technology applications for the research and education community.

Closing Keynote address by Vinton G. Cerf, Senior Vice President of Internet Architecture and Technology for MCI WorldCom. Widely known as a "Father of the Internet," Dr. Cerf and his partner, Dr. Robert E. Kahn, co-designed the TCP/IP Internet protocol and the architecture of the Internet. In December 1997, President Clinton presented the U.S. National Medal of Technology to Cerf and Kahn, for founding and developing the Internet.
