The University of Maryland’s Office of Information Technology
(OIT) plans, develops, supports, and maintains computing, networking,
and telecommunications services for the university. Services we provide include
classroom instructional technology, a campus-wide, online learning management
system (powered by Blackboard), 24-hour computing labs, e-mail, wireless network
access, campus computer connections, and anti-virus software. In addition, OIT
supports the university’s underlying business processes with Web-based
administrative functions such as enrollment confirmation, course scheduling
and registration, bill review and payment, financial aid award and acceptance,
degree progress tracking, grade announcement, transcript request, parking permit
request, graduation application, and other services.
OIT Communications maintains an ongoing effort to keep the news media abreast
of important developments and the latest major activities of the Office of Information
Technology. Our electronic Press Room is designed for journalists so that you
can get the latest news from OIT, browse recent OIT publications, or sign up
for the OIT press list.
We can help you get interviews with OIT experts for a specific story or give
you background on a topic in technology that you would like to explore. OIT's
primary media contact is Phyllis Dickerson Johnson, OIT's Director of Communications.
She can be reached at 301.405.4491 or oit-pr@umd.edu.
