Getting Connected

|

To log on to the wireless network, perform the following steps:

1. Open a Web browser.

2. An authentication window will appear. The authentication window will look like the one pictured below.

3. Enter your University Directory ID and password on the logon page.

You will be required to authenticate each day, after you are inactive on the network for an hour, or if your computer enters sleep mode.

All users are required to authenticate via their Directory ID in order use the wireless network. If you are unsure of what it is, you can use the ID discovery tool. If you are unsure of what your current Directory ID password is, you can reset it at Change Directory ID Password.

Guest Access

Guest access is available for visitors that are sponsored by faculty or staff. OIT provides faculty and staff with the ability to sponsor temporary guest access to the University of Maryland wireless network. Use of our wireless network is currently restricted to faculty, staff, students and university affiliates who have a Directory ID in the University Directory. Wireless access requires us to authenticate (log in) using our Directory ID and password. The Guest Wireless Access Tool will allow faculty and staff to sponsor up to four temporary Guest IDs. Each ID can last up to 30 days. The tool also provides a mechanism for authorized users to create more than 4 accounts if necessary.
