Open Network

|

Network access through an Open Network wallplate requires you to register your Ethernet card with NTS. This is a one-time process and can be done from any active wallplate on campus (including an Open Network wallplate). You will need the following information to register:
  • Your WAM ID/Password
  • The MAC address of your Ethernet Card

PLEASE NOTE:
If after registration, you change your ethernet card, you MUST register the new card in order to have continued access to the open networks.

How to find your MAC (media access control) address:

Windows 98 Users:
Go to START MENU->RUN->type in "winipcfg". Your "Adapter Address" is your MAC address.
Windows 2000/XP Users:
Go to START MENU-> RUN-> type in "command" and select OK or hit RETURN.
Type "ipconfig /all" after the C:/> prompt (be sure to put a space between ipconfig and / and none after the /). Your "Physical Address" is your MAC address.
Mac Users:
Go to APPLE->Apple System Profiler->Network Overview/AppleTalk. Your "Hardware Address" is your MAC address.
