NTS maintains facilities (infrastructure) for the campus by developing specifications, plans, and designs for the installation of voice, data, and video communications systems for the university. In addition, quality assurance is provided by monitoring the progress of engineering and construction projects. This unit is responsible for the day-to-day operations and long term planning of communications support facilities.

Cable Plant -- The university's cable plant is installed and maintained by NTS staff, with large-scale installations done by contractors under NTS supervision. The cable plant installed, tracked, and maintained by NTS is a shared-use plant supporting campus voice, data, and video services. It is composed of Cat 3, Cat 5, and some Cat6 copper as well as multi-mode and single-mode fiber.
