Default Desktop Preferences

To set default font & style preferences:
  1. Select Tools menu.
  2. Select Options.
  3. Select Default Formats and a Default Fonts and Styles dialog box will appear.
  4. Set your default preferences for most aspects of the Query, Table, Results, Pivot, Report and Chart sections of your BrioQuery documents by selecting the corresponding tab of the section for which you wish to set default fonts and styles.
  5. Select the Numbers tab to define your default numerical formatting.
These settings will be the default for your client desktop and will be in place for all of your query documents unless you opt to manipulate the settings within a specific document using the format toolbar or Format menu.

Spotlighter and Colors

  • Pivot Section

    • To Add Spotlighting
      1. Click on the data values in the column which contains the data you wish to spotlight
      2. Select Format menu.
      3. Select Spotlighter.
      4. In the Operator box, select the appropriate function.
      5. In the Value box, type in the value you wish to spotlight.
      6. Click on a color and also format option, i.e. bold, italics, etc.
      7. Click on the green check mark.
      8. Click in the top left corner of the report to clear the highlighting in the report and view the resulting spotlighted values.

    • To Remove the Spotlight
      1. Click on the top label of the column which contains the data you wish to remove from the spotlight.
      2. Select Format menu.
      3. Select Spotlighter.
      4. In the Value box, click on the spotlighted value.
      5. Press the Remove button on the Standard Toolbar. DO NOT USE THE DELETE KEY, this will delete the column.
      6. Click in the top left corner of the report to clear the highlighting in the report and view the resulting change.

    • To Change the Background Color
      1. Click on the labels above each column. You must use Ctrl-Click to select multiple columns.
      2. Select arrow on Fill Color button on Formatting Toolbar.
      3. Click on desired color for background.
      4. Click in the top left corner of the report to clear the highlighting in the report and view the resulting color change.
      Note: This can be done for all or a selected number of columns.

    • To Change the Foreground Color
      1. Click on the label(s) above each column. You must use Ctrl-Click to select multiple columns.
      2. Select arrow on Text Color button on Formatting Toolbar.
      3. Click on desired color for text.
      4. Click in the top left corner of the report to clear the highlighting in the report and view the resulting color change.

  • Report Section

    • To Add Spotlighting
      1. Click on the body of the column which contains the data you wish to spotlight
      2. Select Format menu.
      3. Select Spotlighter.
      4. In the Operator box, select the appropriate function.
      5. In the Value box, type in the value you wish to spotlight.
      6. Click on a color and format option, i.e. bold, italics, etc.
      7. Click on the green check mark.
      8. Click in the top left corner of the report to clear the highlighting in the report and view the resulting spotlighted values.

    • To Remove the Spotlight
      1. Click on the top label of the column which contains the data you wish to remove from the spotlight.
      2. Select Format menu.
      3. Select Spotlighter.
      4. In the Value window, click on the spotlighted value
      5. Press the Remove button on the Standard Toolbar. DO NOT USE THE DELETE KEY, this will delete the column.
      6. Click in the top left corner of the report to clear the highlighting in the report and view the resulting change.

    • To Change the Background Color
      1. Click on the body of the column (you can only highlight one column at a time).
      2. Select arrow on Fill Color button on Formatting Toolbar.
      3. Click on desired color for background.
      4. View the resulting color change.

    • To Change the Foreground Color
      1. Click on the body of the column
      2. Select arrow on Text Color button on Formatting Toolbar.
      3. Click on desired color for text.
      4. View the resulting color change.

  • Chart Section

    • To Change Bar or Pie Piece Color
      1. Click on the bar, line or pie piece.
      2. Select arrow on Fill Color button on Formatting Toolbar.
      3. Click on desired color for background.
      4. View the resulting color change.
