User support for the University of Maryland Data Warehouse is targeted for specific purposes. Contact the appropriate group(s) to meet your specific need(s):
These groups work together to provide complete user support for data warehouse activities, the BrioQuery query tool, and data subset content. More information about each group is listed below.
Brio Support
For specific support for the Hyperion/Brio Intelligence Explorer query tool:

Data Warehouse User Support
Support for general use is available from Data Warehouse (DW) User Support. DW User Support's purpose is to assist users in answering data warehouse questions, building queries, using WOW, etc. In addition, DW User Group meetings will be held periodically to introduce new features of the query tool, new queries on WOW, and tips on building queries.
DWUSERS Listserv - There is a listserv that is available by subscription that is intended for use by University of Maryland Data Warehouse Hyperion (Brio) Intelligence Explorer Client software users to facilitate communication with other DW client software users. You can post a message anytime you want to ask questions and/or need advice from others on how to use the query tool to build queries or reports, creating computed items and especially if you've discovered a neat tip or trick in the software application that others may benefit from knowing!
To subscribe to the list:
- Send email to: listserv@listserv.umd.edu
- In the BODY of the email note, include the following listserv command and leave the Subject line blank:
subscribe DWUSERS name-of-subscriber
For example: subscribe DWUSERS Lori Kasamatsu
- Then Send the email note.
After that, you will be sent a confirmation email message which contains a link which you need to click to complete your subscription. Then you will receive two additional email messages which let you know that you are subscribed to the DWUSERS list and describes how to use the DWUSERS listserv list to post messages, unsubscribe, etc. It is highly recommended that you save the subscription email which contains instructions on how to subscribe, unsubscribe, etc. for future reference.
Data Warehouse Data Support
For each data subset which is included in the UM Data Warehouse, there is a Data Manager who is responsible for the transactional data from which the data were extracted. Before a data warehouse user is given access to a particular data subset, he/she must be take a data training class for that subset. Data training is mandatory and it's purpose is to teach users how to use the data in both a productive and responsible manner. Users should contact the appropriate Data Manager to sign up for data training or ask questions about data elements, table joins, limits, and desired outputs.
Data Warehouse Technical Support
You should work with your technical support staff for hardware configuration, installation of query software, installation of communication software for the warehouse, etc. Please check with your Technology Officer or call the OIT Help Desk, 301-405-1500, for your technical contact. Although technical staff are encouraged to take the Brio training classes so that they are familiar with its functionality, you should direct questions about specific features to Data Warehouse Brio Support. Questions relating to data subsets should be directed to the appropriate Data Manager.
