You will need a tool to query against the data warehouse and/or download data to another application (e.g. spreadsheet) on your local computer. Any SQL-based Oracle compatible query tool can be used with the UMCP data warehouse. The query tool which is supported by the campus is Hyperion/Brio Intelligence Explorer which provides point-and-click access to the warehouse on Mac, PC and Unix platforms. It can be purchased from the Software Licensing Office of the Office of Information Technology. You should work with your Technology Officer or your techncial contact for purchasing of Hyperion/Brio Intelligence Explorer and for installation of this software. Purchase:Purchasing of Hyperion/Brio Intelligence Explorer is handled through the OIT Software Licensing Office. You should purchase the software and maintenance. Include the following information on a UMCP Internal Services Request form:
- Specify the platform (Mac, PC, etc.)
- Indicate that you are purchasing (1) Hyperion/Brio Intelligence Explorer and (2) maintenance for Hyperion/Brio Intelligence Explorer
- Specify your name and office phone number
Upon completion and approval of the form, send the approved UM Internal Services Request form to the Software Licensing Office in the Computer and Space Sciences Building Room 3342. They will order Hyperion/Brio Intelligence Explorer and call you when it has arrived. The turn around time will be a few days to two weeks. Maintenance:
OIT Software Licensing charges an annual maintenance fee for the Hyperion/Brio Intelligence Explorer software. Maintenance provides you with free technical support from Hyperion Solutions Corporation 1-877-901-HYSL (4975) as well as upgrades to the latest releases of the software. You will be notified automatically by the Software Licensing Office when an upgrade or new version has been released and when the annual maintenance is due. Unless there are major changes or additions, new versions will also be covered by the maintenance fee. Maintenance will be prorated from the date of purchase to the annual renewal date of March 31. Upgrades by CD can be obtained by contacting OIT Software Licensing, which charges a minimal fee to cover the cost of a new CD.
Installation:
Follow the prompts to install the Hyperion/Brio software. It may be necessary to contact your local technical support person if you have problems installing.
