Teaching theaters are scheduled for academic courses, for research and grant initiatives, for workshop and conference sessions, for meetings and demonstrations for groups both on and off campus. To schedule a teaching theater, click on the appropriate type of session below. For questions about scheduling a Teaching Theater send e-mail to tt-schedule@umd.edu, or call (301) 405-6740.

Regular Academic Courses
This is for regular Maryland courses that want to have 4 or more meetings in a Teaching Theater.
  • The Teaching Theaters are scheduled a year in advance through a simple request process. The call for requests for use of the teaching theaters takes place semi-annually.

Periodic Academic Courses
This is for Maryland courses that want to have 3 or fewer meetings in a Teaching Theater.
  • After the request and scheduling process for full semester courses has been completed, these sessions are scheduled on the basis of availability of a facility and technical support.
  • These sessions may also be scheduled in the Instructional WAM Facilities. Inquiries on scheduling these facilities may be sent to Instructional Facilities Scheduling at tt-schedule@umd.edu.
  • During Spring and Fall semester final exam weeks, no periodic courses may be scheduled.

Research or Grant request
This is for research or grant-related needs for University of Maryland faculty, staff, graduate students, etc.
  • Research sessions are scheduled after the request and scheduling process for full semester courses has been completed.
  • For grant projects, expenses for facility use should be factored into the budget for the grant.
  • Research and Grant projects may also be scheduled in the Faculty Technology Center (FTC). For more information on the FTC, please contact Instructional Facilities Scheduling at tt-schedule@umd.edu.

Campus-sponsored Events
This includes workshops, training sessions, short courses, conference sessions, etc. that require a technology-rich facility.
  • These sessions can only be scheduled after the request and scheduling process for full semester courses has been completed.
  • Fees for use of the Teaching Theaters may be charged for these types of sessions. For inquiries about fees, please contact Instructional Facilities Scheduling at tt-schedule@umd.edu.

Event for external/off-campus groups
This is for any group not affiliated with the University of Maryland.
  • There are fees for use by external groups. For more information on fees contact Instructional Facilities Scheduling at tt-schedule@umd.edu.
  • As with all non-academic sessions, sessions for external groups may be scheduled only after the full-semester courses have been scheduled.
