Technology Officers

The Technology Officer (TO) program was created to address the strategic needs for IT in both instruction and research at the university.  The TO provides leadership in an assigned college or school in supporting information technology for faculty, staff and students.  The TO is responsible for working with the Dean to set technology direction for the college/school that will move the mission of the college forward and align it with the technology direction of the university.  In the case of a college/school that has an existing IT support structure in place the TO may work with the college/school IT Director in setting technology direction.  This position will also serve as a liaison for the college/school by maintaining current knowledge of the information technology infrastructure at the university and serving on committees concerned with technology issues, such as an appropriate subcommittee of the IT Council.  In addition, this position will serve as a liaison for OIT by informing the college/school of new campus-wide initiatives, such as high performance computing, knowledge management and grid computing.  The TO reports to the Director of Academic Support in OIT and the respective Dean or designate in the college/school.
