Fees and Payment
The Office of Information Technology
facilitates a training contract with a vendor on behalf of the University
of Maryland. Training provided by this vendor is offered at rates discounted
well below the cost of similar training outside of the College Park campus.
OIT personnel also provide instruction on content for which OIT has particular
subject
expertise
or unique
perspective.
Training
fees
cover
the
cost of instructors,
facilities use, and course materials.
Payment can be made by providing an FRS number when registering at the Training At Maryland site, or in the form of ISR (or RSTARS for USM affiliates), cash, or check made payable to the University of Maryland. We are unable to accept credit card transactions at this time. Payment must be made on or before the day a course begins.
Notification Policy
Registrants will be notified of their success in registering immediately after clicking on the "Submit" button. Print a copy of the confirmation Web page, which contains information about class name, dates, time and location. Registrants will additionally receive an e-mail confirmation within 24 of their submission of the electronic form. If you do not receive acknowledgment of your registration at least 24 hours before the class date, please contact the Training Services Coordinator for clarification at (301) 405-0443.
Cancellation Policies
Participant Cancellation
The Office of Information Technology requires your cancellation notice at least three working days before a class is scheduled in order to provide a full refund of training fees. Quite often there is a waitlist for OIT training classes; your timely cancellation enables the Training Services Coordinator to fill your seating vacancy from that list. We understand that sometimes unavoidable circumstances prohibit participants from attending on the day a class meets. Please contact the Training Services Coordinator at (301) 405-0443 as soon as possible in order to avoid being charged for the class.
If you register for a class and do not attend without notification, you or your department will be billed for the full amount of the course fee.
Class Cancellation
The Office of Information Technology reserves the right to cancel a class due to insufficient enrollment. Such decisions will be made three working days before the scheduled class date and registrants will be notified via electronic mail and telephone. When possible, the Training Services Coordinator will attempt to seat registrants in future offerings of the course.
Inclement Weather Policy
OIT training programs follow the University schedule for late opening or closing
on days of extreme weather. Unless otherwise noted, if the University opens
by 10:00 a.m., class will begin at that time; however, leniency will be shown
in applying the cancellation policy toward those who are unable to attend work
on such days. The Office of Information Technology will make every attempt to
reschedule a class postponed due to inclement weather within one month.
Late Arrival Penalties
Courses have been planned very carefully to take
full advantage of the time allotted for the training. To be respectful of your time, the other participants' time, and the trainers' time, we ask that you arrive by the posted check-in time so the Training Services Coordinator can check you in and distribute training materials. This is usually 15 minutes prior to the start of class. Late arrivals are disruptive to trainers and other class participants. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the class has started, you risk forfeiture of your seat.
Prerequisites
It is the responsibility of the participant to understand and meet the prerequisite skill or knowledge level associated with the course for which he or she is registering. This helps to ensure that participants are properly prepared to succeed in a course. Course prerequisites are detailed with the course descriptions.
