About PlayFair

PlayFair is a new awareness campaign designed to encourage University of Maryland students to think twice before illegally downloading or uploading copyrighted materials from or to the Internet. Developed and launched by OIT Communications and OIT’s Project NEThics, PlayFair incorporates posters, ads, this Web site, and a variety of other campaign materials to spread the word about legal alternatives to online piracy. We’re using these resources in support of two main goals:

  • Promoting awareness and encouraging use of legal alternatives to illegal downloading, uploading, and file sharing (such as Ruckus).
  • Educating students about the consequences of online piracy.

We encourage you to read this Web site in its entirety and to play fair when it comes to music, movies, television shows, and games. Please do not hesitate to contact us should you have any questions or comments. Thank you for your interest!
