Short Telephone Outages During the Week of September 17, 2007

Beginning at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, September 17, telephone outages of approximately 5-10 minutes may affect some customers. These outages will occur throughout the week of September 17-21 (after 5:30 p.m. each day) and may continue into the weekend. Voice services users in the following buildings may be affected:

  • A.V. Williams (South end)
  • Computer Science Instructional Center (CSIC)
  • Engineering Research
  • Wind Tunnel
  • Central Animal Resources Facility
  • Energy Resource

There is no way to determine when a specific user’s service will be interrupted, but each user should only experience one service interruption during the week.

These outages will occur during a necessary repair of some underground cables in the area, which are showing some deterioration due to age and weather. Networking and Telecommunications Services has contacted the Departmental Telecommunications Representatives (DTRs) for the affected buildings, and the DTRs will then inform the appropriate customers of the possible outages.

In case of an emergency during a telephone outage, please dial 911 from the nearest cell phone or blue light emergency phone.
