Many OIT and university computing resources, including OIT-provided
e-mail, will be unavailable between 5 p.m. on Friday, August 11 and
11:59 p.m. on Saturday, August 12 due to a power outage Facilities Management
has planned to complete electrical work.
Applications and services unavailable during the downtime include the following:
the Mail@umd e-mail system (including e-mail reflectors), ARES (including PHR,
electronic timesheets, Electronic Forms (ELF), Data Warehouse, etc.), the athletic
ticket server, CICS, DEANS, Glue, WAM, CorporateTime, Digital Imaging, the news
service (source of newsgroups), Listserv lists, Testudo, online admissions applications,
WebCT, and OIT Webhosting. We will begin shutting down these services at 5 p.m.
on Friday, and they will be restarted when the electrical work is complete.
The University Directory will be available during the outage, however the Directory
search page and Web interfaces to the Directory will not be available. Departmental
Glue services will still be up and available, as will Glue software. The university
home page, www.umd.edu, and the OIT Help Desk
home page, www.helpdesk.umd.edu, will
be hosted remotely and will be available.
The maintenance outage was scheduled for a timeframe when demand for services
is low. Concerns about the interruption of specific services during this outage
should be addressed to the OIT Help Desk at 301.405.1500 as soon as possible.
During the outage, updates will be available periodically at this telephone
number.
