Your Campus Resource for Online Teaching and Learning

By Sharon Roushdy

The OIT Learning Technologies group recently launched their extensively redesigned Web site at http://otal.umd.edu. Aimed toward faculty/instructors, and intended to be your campus resource for online teaching and learning, the new site provides information about the following services:

  • ELMS

  • Digital Media

  • Collaboration and Interaction

  • Training and Consulting

Under these service sections, instructors can find guidance for the selection and use of an array of supported tools for teaching and learning. These tools include ELMS (powered by Blackboard), Wimba Live Classroom, wikis, blogs, clickers, podcasting tools, a streaming media server, and more.

Faculty members may also check the calendar of events, which includes opportunities for face-to-face training, Brown Bag lunches, webinars, workshops, and other events. In addition, the site provides how-to materials for our supported tools, video tutorials, and community forums.
