Sign Up for UMD Alert for Emergency Notices

By Marc Limansky, University of Maryland Department of Public Safety

The University of Maryland’s Department of Public Safety has established “UMD Alert,” a notification system that allows the University of Maryland to contact you during an emergency by sending text messages to your e-mail, mobile phone, pager, BlackBerry, or other text-enabled device.

When an emergency occurs, authorized senders will instantly notify you using UMD Alert. The new system is your personal connection to real-time updates, instructions on where to go, what to do or what not to do, who to contact, and other important information needed in a crisis.

Subscribe at www.alert.umd.edu or register your text-enabled device immediately by texting UMD to 411911.
