Microsoft has officially ended providing support for Windows 98 and ME as of June 2006. Apple has also ended support for OS 9 as of June 2006. The OIT Help Desk will no longer provide support for these Operating Systems. Microsoft and Apple will continue to house Knowledge Base articles on their support sites for a period of time. OIT strongly recommends upgrading to the latest Operating Systems because the vendors will no longer issue security patches or updates for the older versions.
