• Protect your computer from destructive viruses—for free! McAfee VirusScan Enterprise, also known as VirusScan 7 and Virex (for Macs), are available for download through the OIT Help Desk at www.helpdesk.umd.edu/virus/software.shtml. You can also get them on CD from the OIT Software Licensing office. Available to current UM faculty, students, and staff, once installed, they are preconfigured to automatically update with new virus definitions.

• Beginning August 1, 2003, users of the Mobile at Maryland (MAM) wireless network no longer have to register their computers with NTS. Instead, each day, they use their Directory ID and Password to log in to the network. This change increases security, allows better roaming capabilities on campus, and increases the network’s capacity to support many more wireless devices.
