Parking Garage 2 WAM Lab Takes Advantage of New Open Network Connections Program

The Open Network Connections System enables users of portable network devices, such as notebook computers, to register their systems for access to special open network data jacks at several "walk-up" locations at the university. The connections require DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), a network card, and a registered network MAC (Media Access Control) address. They provide instant access to the university network. The Parking Garage 2 WAM Lab is just one of the locations where this service is now available.

Departments interested in having open network data jacks installed should contact the Network Operations Center at 301.405.3003. Those who wish to use the jacks should visit http://noc.net.umd.edu/Open_Net.html for registration information.
