A Message from CIO Don Riley
Welcome to the first issue
of IT forUM! We are launching this publication as a new
effort to improve our communication with users about the services that
OIT provides and how IT is being used at the university. We hope this
publication will enhance the services we provide and better equip you
to use technology by providing useful and topical information relevant
to your personal productivity needs. We also hope this publication will
inspire the ambitious use of technology by providing useful tips, as well
as examples of ways others are using technology effectively. We also use
this forum to make the university community aware of the plans, goals,
and strategies that OIT has for the future — in support of the overall
university strategic plan and the academic missions. We also hope that this newsletter
will not only be a way for OIT to provide information to the user community,
but that it will begin a two-way communication with the community. The
newsletter will be offered electronically as well as in abridged hard
copy so that readers will have an increased ability respond to surveys
and questions posed by OIT. This dialogue will enable OIT to provide better
