Customized Training Gives Computer Skills a Boost
by Allison Denny Ever wish your students could put up web pages, design presentations, or just find their way around a word processor? Would you like to have someone teach these kinds of basic computer skills to your class? The Peer Training program can help. Let our instructors come to you! The Peer Training program is now offering customized computer training courses. Our instructors are available to teach special classes at the time and location of your choice. You can select a topic from among 18 computer courses: from Microsoft Office Suite, to graphics, to HTML, and beyond. The cost varies, depending on the length of the course and the materials distributed, but a basic one-hour introductory class is completely free. Instructors are computer-experienced students trained and employed by OIT. Classes can be held in special OIT instructional labs located in the Computer & Space Sciences Building (CSS) or in your classroom. Times range from one to three hours, and courses can be scheduled during the day or in the evening. Classes are also available for faculty and staff, in case you'd like to brush up on your own computer skills. Please visit the Peer Training web site (http://www.umd.edu/PT) for more information and for course descriptions.
