Whether your interests lie in learning about the university's Enterprise Learning Management System (ELMS) and other technologies that support teaching and learning, or in sharing an innovative approach to teaching with peers, or in exploring ways to integrate technology into the instructional design of your courses, OIT provides the infrastructure and support to enable you to achieve your professional development objectives.

  • Innovations in Teaching and Learning (Conference and Speaker Series) - The annual ITL conference, a collaborative effort with the Center for Teaching Excellence, celebrates the accomplishments of Maryland faculty who are using technology and other innovative strategies to transform the educational experience. The ITL Speaker Series brings renowned experts in the field to the university to discuss issues of pedagogy, instructional technology, learning outcomes, assessment, and more.
  • Institute for Instructional Technology (IIT) - IIT provides skills training and peer mentoring to faculty and teaching assistants who wish to explore the ways in which technology can be integrated into their course curricula.
  • Instructional Technology Resources - This page provides links to online resources, examples, and tutorials on such topics as Cooperative Learning, Classroom Assessment Techniques, Distance Education, and more.
  • Instructional Design - This page provides links to online resources from experts internal and external to the university on issues of instructional design and pedagogy.
  • UHR IT Workshops - This series of non-credit computer courses offered by University Human Resources includes workshops on desktop productivity, Web, and network technologies.
  • Skillsoft E-Learning Training - Web-based training in desktop productivity, Web development, and IT administration technologies is hosted via the university's Training@Maryland site.
