The Office of Information Technology
is strongly committed to helping faculty use information technology to enhance
teaching, learning, and research. To that end, services and resources are available
to facilitate collaboration and communication between faculty, students, and
peers, to enrich the learning experience in physical and online environments,
to streamline administrative activities, and to foster professional development
opportunities. In addition to the support provided by OIT staff in these areas,
faculty in many colleges also have access to IT
support personnel within their colleges and, in some cases, departments.
As you will see from the resource
and services links below, the depth and breadth of support available to university
faculty is expansive. However, if you are ever in doubt as to how to find an
IT service, start with the OIT Help Desk
at 301.405.1500. The staff will align your needs with the appropriate resource.
New Faculty--Getting
Started
First things first. When a faculty member first arrives at the University of
Maryland a myriad of tasks await, including getting connected in order to access
services, students, and peers. OIT's "Top Ten Technology
Tasks" will have you communicating and productive in no time.
