*Does OIT provide service to persons with disabilities?

OIT supports persons with disabilities by providing adaptive technology resources.

Calendaring Software

*How do I get an Oracle Calendar (CorporateTime) account?

OIT works with departments and other units to activate Oracle Calendar (formerly CorporateTime) accounts. In order for your unit to be activated in Oracle Calendar, ask your unit representative to review the information and complete the form at the following URL: www.oit.umd.edu/projects/calendar/request.html.

Computer Accounts

*How do I get a computer account?

E-mail, computer lab, and UNIX accounts are available from the Office of Information Technology. You can use these accounts for e-mail,and accessing public computer labs. To register, bring your University ID to the OIT Help Desk, Computer and Space Sciences building Room 1400. For more information see www.helpdesk.umd.edu/topics/accounts/shell/wam/1302/.

*How do I get a print account for the computer labs?

You must have a Terrapin Express account to get a print account. If you already have a Terrapin Express account from Dining Services, go to the OIT Help Desk, Computer and Space Sciences building Room 1400, to register for a print account. If you do not have a Terrapin Express account, you can open a Terrapin Express account and a print account with a minimum deposit of $20 in room 1109 South Campus Dining Hall. *I just graduated, how long does my e-mail account account remain active? Can I keep my account?

*How can I obtain an e-mail account?

Forgotten Passwords

*What should I do if I forgot my password?

If you forget your Directory password and have answered the password security questions, you can use your answers to gain access to change your password at www.password.umd.edu. If you forget your password and have not answered the password security questions, you should contact the OIT Help Desk at 301.405.1500 (faculty/staff) or 301.405.1400 (students).

*How can I change my password?

To change your Directory password, visit www.password.umd.edu. Information about changing other passwords is located at www.helpdesk.umd.edu.

Getting Connected: Dorms

*How do I get my computer connected to the network from my Residence Hall?

You can register your computer for access to the campus network and learn more about connecting from Residence Halls at http://register.net.umd.edu/ResNet.

Network Connections

*How do I get a new network connection or change an existing one?

Contact the Office of Information Technology Networking and Telecommunications Services (OIT-NTS) at 301.405.4400 to obtain an Ethernet Installation and/or an Ethernet Relocation form. You may also download one from http://noc.net.umd.edu/new_forms.html.

Telephone Order Status

*How do I get a new phone installed or an existing one moved or disconnected?

To get a new line installed or change an existing phone line, visit http://nts-services.umd.edu/order-requests or contact the OIT-NTS Service Desk at 301.405.4400 and request a copy of the Telecommunications Services Equipment Request form.

*How do I report problems with my telephone?

To report a problem with your telephone, call 301.405.4400 or submit a request for repair services to nts-service-desk@umd.edu.
