DUTIES: The Web Services Developer position will provide Web
design and development implementation expertise for a new Web site design and
development service for campus divisions, departments, colleges, and schools
that will take the university's Web presence to the next level of technology
integration, interaction, and creative information dissemination. The goal of
this new organization is to leap the university's Web presence ahead of other
implementations. Service offerings of this program will include, but not be
limited to, Web design, Web development, and customization of Web sites and
inclusion of new, innovative functionality not previously used in university
Web sites. This position will create and implement the best way to organize,
characterize, and visualize the vast amount of information on university Web
sites and interact with Web site clients to exchange information in the most
appealing, innovative, and useful way possible using a variety of tools drawn
from locally written code, licensed programs, and open source. The Web Services
Developer will build excellent Web sites for a wide range of projects for digital,
Web, and mobile platforms based on university client requirements, and university
policies, guidelines, standards, and needs. This individual will possess outstanding
creative programming and technical implementation capability and will work as
a member of a cross-unit university team.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates with a bachelor's degree
in computer science or related field are preferred. At least five years of professional
experience in Web development, Web and content production, and/or relevant Web
programming experience required, including a proven track record in launching
successful interactive Web sites/applications. Advanced skills in Web based
technologies required. Experience in writing automation scripts required. Experience
working in multiple scripting languages, such as ColdFusion, ASP, PHP, Python,
and JavaScript a plus; experience with content management systems a plus; knowledge
of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) preferred; knowledge of Apache
and Tomcat a plus; knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and Dreamweaver
a plus; and knowledge of UNIX a plus.
