DUTIES: The University of Maryland is seeking to fill the position of an Operations Manager within the Office of Information Technology. The position will oversee a 24 x 7 IT Operation including 17 full and part-time staff. The position will be responsible for managing the staff and for overseeing all production operations including supplies, hardware maintenance, and policies and procedures. In addition, the position oversees multiple data center facilities, the IT infrastructure, develops business process improvement plans, participates in disaster recovery planning, and manages operational projects. The position works with production control, applications programming, and mainframe, UNIX, and Windows systems administration staff to plan, monitor, and ensure a quality production environment.

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates must have a Bachelor's degree and at least five years of increasingly responsible experience in IT Operations of which at least one year must be in the management of a complex 24x7 IT Operation and/or Helpdesk. Candidates must have a general knowledge of data center facility environments and IT infrastructure including IT networking. Experience with mainframe systems is desirable. The position requires excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communications and leadership skills; analytical and problem-solving abilities; strong project management skills; and a flexible, highly motivated, and energetic person.
