DUTIES: The Director, Software Development Services reports to the Vice President and Chief Information Officer and is a senior management position in information technology on campus. The position is responsible for creating a new department in the Office of Information Technology that is responsible for the conception, development, and implementation of new applications as well as maintenance of enterprise software systems on platforms ranging from mobile devices to mainframes. Major responsibilities include strategic planning, operational planning, leadership, budget development, quality assurance and management of the department. This position is well suited for a creative individual who has a vision for delivering innovative services to the campus community using multiple platforms. The successful candidate will develop the strategic plan for campus enterprise software applications, construct a well integrated and evolving software application architecture for the campus, ensure software engineering principles are incorporated into the software development process, ensure that enterprise software applications are production quality and conform to audit standards, work collaboratively with faculty and administrators, and represent the university on state, national, and international initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, engineering, information management, information science, or related field is required with a Master's or Ph.D. degree preferred. A minimum of ten years of progressive responsibility for in enterprise computing applications, software development, software engineering or related areas, including at least five years of personnel management experience are required. Knowledge of programming language techniques, software engineering principles and practice, Web-based programming environments, database management systems, mainframe systems, and client server applications are required.
