IT Coordinator, Network Technician Intermediate (111374,111548)

DUTIES: Responsible for monitoring the health of the university's
networks. Routine testing and analysis of all elements of the network facilities
(including power, software, wired network equipment, remote network equipment,
wireless network equipment and broadband network equipment). Monitors and controls
the performance and status of the network resources. Utilizes software and hardware
tools to identify and diagnose problems and factors affecting the network performance.
Examples of this are making changes in the the DNS (Domain Name System), management
of campus IP assignments. Some field work may be required. Candidate to have
coverage for the APC UPS systems (smart series) and be familiar with network
interfaces for these devices. Candidate will be responsible for the management
of wireless authentication, security and network systems, and work order systems.
Candidate will assist in management and phone coverage for the Network Operation
Center and in IT project management.
QUALIFICATIONS: Qualifications for this position include a
Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
CCNA and CCNP preferred, but not required. Two to four years of demonstrated
experience in Enterprise Data Network environment, experience with authentication
systems for wireless networks and/or IT helpdesk, and utilization of a network
management system is needed. Familiarity with Windows OS, Mac OS, wireless (802.11)
authentication, security and IOS, with both Cisco IOS software and Catalyst
OS interfaces, and with user level familiarity of UNIX OS. Familiarity with
network testing equipment and with premise wiring including fiber optics. Knowledge
of coverage for the campus Network Operations Center (NOC) call handling, trouble
shooting, administration systems (trouble ticket system (ITSM), network management
system (CA Spectrum), Work order system (TMS).
