DUTIES: The University of Maryland, College Park seeks Help Desk IT Coordinators who will provide direct end-user assistance to the customers of the OIT Help Desk. The Help Desk provides IT support to the faculty, staff, and students of the university, including assistance with the Windows, Macintosh, and UNIX computing platforms, standard productivity applications, the Internet, networking, and a wide range of university administrative applications. Support is provided over the telephone, on a walk-in basis, and by e-mail. Help Desk Support Coordinators are responsible for all aspects of the customer relationship, from initial contact through troubleshooting and research to final problem resolution. This entry-level position provides excellent opportunities for learning and advancement.

QUALIFICATIONS: To be eligible, the candidate must either hold a relevant IT certification (MCSE, A+, CCNA, etc.), have previous IT support experience, or hold an associate's or bachelor's degree in information technology or a related field. Knowledge of at least two of the three major computing platforms supported (Windows, Macintosh, UNIX) is desired. The successful candidate will possess excellent written and verbal skills, a positive customer service attitude, and ability to work in a team environment.
