DUTIES: The Office of Information Technology (OIT) of the University of Maryland, College Park is seeking a candidate to assume primary responsibility for mobile applications development. Duties include developing, designing, quality assurance testing, and support of native applications developed for Apple, Inc.'s iPod Touch, iPhone and other mobile platforms. The incumbent will analyze application requirements in consultation with the campus user community and will engage in design and development of new applications to enhance the programming environment around these applications. The IT Programmer Analyst will also act as a coordinator between OIT and other affiliated groups involved with mobility application development both on campus and off campus, and in particular as a member of a consortium of institutions developing these applications. The incumbent will represent the university at vendor meetings and to development staff at other institutions. You will also be responsible for providing necessary programmatic and user documentation for developed applications

QUALIFICATIONS: Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, in a related area or the equivalent. The successful candidate will have at least 5 years experience in object-oriented software design; applications optimization experience; user interface design experience and a proven track record for developing production applications software. The successful candidate will have strong, proven oral and written communication skills along with demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking abilities. A programming background in Objective C, C or C++ is required. Additional requirements include familiarity with UNIX/Linux and experience with the full life cycle of applications development from gathering requirements to design, implementation and testing. Macintosh OS X programming experience, portal or Web development experience is plus. A familiarity with common Web technologies is expected but not required. The candidate must be self-motivated, responsible, and a team player with strong dedication and problem solving skills. The position will be involved with multiple concurrent projects requiring flexibility and ease in adjusting to changing priorities.
